Agents of chain-ge

This early-stage startup is thinking outside the bot. Corvera raised a $4.2M seed round after emerging from Y Combinator to build an agentic operating system for consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands. Rather than replacing existing software stacks, Corvera layers AI agents on top of tools like Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, NetSuite, and Snowflake to automate the manual operational work that still dominates supply chains. The startup’s agents can process purchase orders, reconcile invoices, rebuild forecasts using live sales data, and coordinate across fragmented systems without human intervention. The company says many operators spend nearly 20 hours per week on repetitive workflows caused by disconnected systems, and early customers are already seeing faster order cycles, improved forecasting accuracy, and the ability to grow revenue without expanding headcount. Aisle be honest, tech like this was extremely overdue.

Chip on its shoulder

Artificial intelligence is running into some real problems. At the Milken Institute Global Conference, executives spanning every layer of the AI stack painted a picture of the AI industry running into real-world limits as demand explodes. ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet warned that AI chip supply constraints could persist for years despite manufacturing expansions, and Google Cloud COO Francis deSouza revealed the company is exploring orbital data centers as energy demand becomes a bottleneck. Leaders also emphasized that physical AI systems still require hard-to-scale real-world data collection, especially in robotics and autonomy. The panel also highlighted a shift in AI thinking: while most companies continue scaling language models, startups like Logical Intelligence are experimenting with alternative architectures designed to reason more like humans. Many of the discussions raised questions around security, geopolitics, labor, and whether today’s AI architecture is the right long-term path. The AI boom is hitting a silicon ceiling.

Not exactly a no-brainer

VCs are getting in the market’s head. Brain-computer interface startups are attracting billions as companies like Neuralink push the category closer to reality, but who’s really volunteering? The industry faces a fundamental challenge: convincing people to put implants in their brains. Despite over $3B invested since 2024 and growing excitement around futuristic use cases like cognitive enhancement and digital consciousness, adoption is extremely limited. Only a small fraction of eligible patients opt into existing neurotech treatments like deep brain stimulation. There’s a growing divide between grand vision-driving investors, like AI-enhanced humans, memory augmentation, and longevity, and the near-term commercial reality where public hesitation continues to constrain the market. Some investors believe BCIs could eventually become as ubiquitous as smartphones, but most agree the technology will first need to prove itself in healthcare settings. It sounds like BCI startups must have a lot on their mind.
