Neil Devani has spent the past decade partnering with founders to build companies the world needs. At Necessary Ventures, he backs deep tech, hard tech, and AI companies tackling fundamental challenges across healthcare, reindustrialization, climate, financial services, and education.

Neil's investments include multiple companies that have reached public markets, among them Recursion Pharmaceuticals, a biotech pioneer applying AI to drug discovery and development, and Vicarious Surgical, a next-generation robotics company developing minimally invasive surgical systems, where Neil was the first investor and board director before being followed by Khosla Ventures, Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors, and Bill Gates. He is also an early investor in industry leaders across autonomous vehicles (Wayve), chemicals manufacturing (Solugen), education (Andela), healthcare (Akido), and electrification (Arc Boats).

Neil currently serves on the boards of Plural, OneImaging, Beyond Health, Pathos, Insightful Instruments, and Rubi Laboratories.

Beyond his work at Necessary, Neil serves as an advisor to Comar Mollé LLP, a boutique law firm serving impactful technology companies, venture funds, and nonprofits. He is also an advisor to Upsolve, a nonprofit that has helped individuals clear over one billion dollars of primarily medical debt.

Neil earned his B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University, attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine, and completed his J.D. at Stanford Law School.
